This rare theatre programme is an important item in the history of the Garrick Theatre. The Profligate, by Arthur Wing Pinero, marks the opening of the Garrick Theatre on 24th April 1889, starring John Hare who was the first manager of the theatre. Interestingly the major investor in the theatre was W.S. Gilbert. The Incidental Song was written by Sir Arthur Sullivan and sung by Avon Saxon under the direction of D’Oyly Carte company.
