Miss Lily Elsie was born 1886-1962 and was a popular Edwardian singer and actress, she became a hit with her starring role as The Merry Widow. Lily Elsie began her career on stage as a child appearing in a few Edwardian comedies until her success came about in the operetta The Merry Widow by Victor Leon, Leo Stein and Franz Lehar in 1907, thereafter she focused more on a more vocal career staring in successful stage musicals and operettas. She was an extreme beauty and was declared as one of the most photographed Edwardian actresses.
