This is an extremely rare and unusual French theatre programme. The first 8 pages are single but the rest open out giving six sides each. The ornate programme includes many attractive advertisements, synopsis of the play and biographies of the characters; historical notes; biography of the author; biography of Sarah Bernhardt.

Set during the French revolution, Louis XVI has been imprisoned. A young lady, Théroigne de Méricourt, is attracted by the new ideas of the revolution. A very complicated and dramatic drama ensues.

24 sides of pages; approx 27.5cm x 12 cm when closed.

Condition Code: 4-5: Pages are smooth and show very little evidence of handling. The pages are bound by very delicate cotton. Such good condition for its age.
