This beautiful and rare silk programme was printed for one night only, Tuesday, February 24th, 1885. Thanks to its stiff board construction the programme and the silk covering are in exceptional condition.
Silk programmes were produced mainly, but not solely, in late 1800s – early 1900s, to celebrate special occasions such as an opening of a new theatre, royal commands, visiting royalty and VIPs, charity events and such like. Often printed for the one night they are quite rare to find.
A wonderful example of near fine theatre programme for discerning collector of antique theatre documents.
