This playbill programme presents A Season of Gilbert and Sullivan Operas by the D’Oyly Carte Opera Trust in 1967 at the Saville Theatre.
Amidst the programmes pages are articles by Anthony Blond entitled ‘Table Talk’, and an on fashion by Katherine Wood. The programme has two loose inserts with printed cast lists, one for the cast of The Mikado and the second The Gondoliers.
Gilbert & Sullivan were a prolific and successful two-man team who created fourteen comic operas together over a period of around 25 years. William S. Gilbert, born in London, (1836-1911) was a successful lyricist, poet and illustrator. Arthur S. Sullivan was the composer, also born in London, (1842-1900), the son of a military band master.
