The Royal Princess’s Theatre was opened in 1840 at 78, Oxford Street, London. A modest little theatre designed by the architect T. M. Nelson

The theatre was 1880 was completely rebuilt in a more ornate and elaborate Renaissance style, under the auspices of Mr. C. J. Phipps, an architect renowned for designing myriads of theatres both in London and the provinces.
