A pretty front cover to this programme printed on two sides of green card with gold highlighting to the cover design. The play was written by George Sims in collaboration with Henry Pettitt and had over 500 performances at the Adelphi. Mr Sims (1847 – 1922) had a long career as a journalist, poet, dramatist and novelist with a strong interest in social conditions of the time. We would probably recognise him as the author of the line ‘It is Christmas day in the workhouse……’
