With beautiful theatrical art work, this is an exceptionally rare programme in a larger, longer style than usual. The first night is dated October 27th, 1894. On the front is pencil script January ’95, presumably a note from the original purchaser at the show.
The show was popular and long-running with Mr George Edwardes producing this show and many others, popularising musical-comedies. He also created the Gaiety Girls who were quite a departure from the burlesque actresses. These were gentile and stylish, much sort after on and off stage!
This is a Daly’s Theatre programme with George Edwardes managing and producing; an important record in theatre history.
On page 3 there is some interesting editorial including Miss Ada Rehan’s Starring Tour, whilst on page 4 there are some fascinating advertisements.
