The programme presents The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare. It stars Mr Bourchier and Miss Violet Vanbrugh.

The Garrick theatre was opened in 1889 in the London West End and was named after the famous actor David Garrick. The Garrick Theatre was designed by Walter Emden and C.J Phipps and financed by the famous dramatist, poet-playwright and illustrator, Mr W. S Gilbert.

There are many informative advertisements and illustrations relevant to the decade. The cast list is printed across 8. The printer’s date stamp dated on the back cover page bottom left corner 22/12/05.

The programme consists of cream smooth paper printed in black ink; 16 pages including front and back cover; Approx. H 18cm x W 12cm.

 

 

 

Condition Code: 4: One central staple, rusted but pages firmly secured. No nicks, tears, or cuts. Faint foxing on pages 8 & 9. The programme is in exceptionally good condition considering it’s over 110 years of age.
