This special theatre programme is made of smooth white paper and printed in a variety of colours with a beautiful art deco style illustration of a white peacock ridden by a glamourous woman in a long gown and flamboyant feather hat.

The Whirl of the World was at the time a new revue presented by Charles Gulliver and based on the book by Albert De Courville (who also produced the play), Edgar Wallace and William Wells. The programme has advertisements ranging from Cow and Gate baby products to the new Ford model, most with illustrations.

The programme list is presented across pages 4 – 10. Amongst the cast list is the celebrated Nervo and Knox. Jimmy Nervo and Teddy Knox were a very popular singing and dancing comic acrobatic double act.

Mr Jimmy Nervo was born James Hollaway in London (1898–1975), and came from a family of circus owners and from a very young age he became involved in the family business performing as an acrobat and a high wire entertainer. When he was 16 he reinvented himself as Jimmy Nervo and started his career as a professional juggler where he met Teddy Knox. Teddy Knox was born Albert Edward Cromwell Knox (1896 – 1974) came from Newcastle, England and in his early career was half of the double act The Cromwell’s working with his brother as a professional Juggler. In 1922 he had the opportunity to perform with the Ziegfeld Follies in the USA. They became a very popular double act known as Nervo and Knox and in the early 1930s were given the opportunity to became a part of the very successful variety troupe The Crazy Gang.

The programme is made up of 12 pages including front and back cover pages and still has the remaining seal sticker on front and back cover pages. Approx. H26cm x W19cm.
