The cast of this 1939 production of The Importance of being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde, at the Globe Theatre is a who’s who of actors of the day.  John Gielgud plays the lead and directs these eight special matinees during February 1952 for a selection of charities. The programme contains full page photographs of John Gielgud, Edith Evans, Angela Baddeley and Joyce Carey; and interestingly includes the cast list for the performance of 14th February 1895 at St James’s Theatre.
