This stunning souvenir programme to commemorate the production’s ‘Farewell to the Lyceum’ could also be considered as an historical book. Articles include Isabel Bateman by Fay Compton; Note on the present production by John Gielgud; History of the Lyceum Theatre by W. Macqueen-Pope (6 pages); Ellen Terry and Henry Irving by Edith Craig; Note on the Exhibits by Gabrielle Enthoven; The Lyceum Hamlets by W. Macqueen-Pope.

These performances were indeed a farewell performance as the theatre was destined for demolition for the building of a block of flats! Due to the outbreak of the World War II, those plans did not go ahead and the demolition did not take place.

28 pages NOT including the cover; approx 25cm x 19cm.
