This extremely rare ‘book of words’ contains the lyrics and script of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore. Likely to have been owned by a member of management, cast or the prompter, this book has the original cast noted on the Dramatis Personae in fine pencil. After much research, we have noted the similarity between the cast annotations and George Grossmith’s signature.

Richard Temple created the role of Dick Deadeye for this 1878 performance which became internationally successful.
